Saturday Showcase - Stamperia Wedding Paper Pack

Happy Saturday to you! Suzz here to share with you a showcase featuring the beautiful Stamperia Wedding Paper Pack. This paper is so lovely it inspires so many different layouts for tags, cards or page layouts for a wedding. 

The first tag combined a frame with a tag cut from the papers. The dress was cut from one of the panels in the paper pack and accented with flowers and gems.

I then took a mix of the tags, panels and paper to create a second tag layering in the cut out images with the tags.

The pieces were cut from the paper pack and distressed around the edges. Then layered with pop dots to create dimension. The hearts were colored with alcohol ink and then sponged with a touch of white gesso to soften the pink color. The lace was accented with the hearts and they look like little angel wings.

For my final project I layered the pieces onto a card base.

The background paper was distressed with a touch of black soot distress oxide using the blending brush. The excess ink was spritzed on the craft mat with water and picked up on the background to add an additional splatter of color.

The doily was cut from pink tissue paper and layered behind the heart and the groom coat. The hearts were hand cut and distressed with the distressing tool. Then sponged with a touch of black soot using the blending brush.
My tags and cards fit right in with our current challenge of Let's Play Tic Tac Toe as I used the combination of Layers, Bling and Die Cuts! I hope this inspires you to play along as the challenge is open until January 21st.

Guest Designer - Ann Barnes

It is time to introduce our first Guest Designer for 2020.  Please say hello to Ann Barnes of aksbarchitect CREATES.  Ann was the top pick from the Fabulous Fall challenge.

Happy New Year, I am Ann Barnes (a.k.a. aksbarchitect) from aksbarchitect CREATES. I am honored to have earned this opportunity to be guest designer for the Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog's current challenge.

I have always loved creating things. From the time I was young, I loved drawing and using my imagination to envision structures. I admire all the fine details and figuring out how things go together. This passion for creativity set my path to becoming an architect, as well as my love of art. I have a wonderful family who inspire me everyday to be the best that I can be. Most often I can be found in the studio getting inky, enjoying a walk in nature or with my family that I dearly love.

For the tic tac toe challenge, I have created a fancy fold card. The folded card, which incorporates heat embossing as well as ribbon, creates a winning vertical combination of components. Love is in the air with Valentine's day right around the corner, this definitely gives me a head start on my valentines.

Hi there, Cec here to host the first challenge of 2020 and I thought it might be fun to play a game.  Here is what it is all about:

Let's play a game of Tic Tac Toe for this first challenge of the year. Choose any vertical, horizontal or diagonal line from the graphic below and create a vintage or shabby chic project using all three items on your chosen line. In addition to using all three items you must include a copy of the graphic in your post and tell us which line you chose.

The winner will earn a chance to be a Guest Designer at a future date here at The Funkie Junkie Boutique blog, and everyone who enters and follows the rules will go into the draw for the chance to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. There are also Top 3 Badges for three additional outstanding entries, chosen by the Design Team.

Saturday Showcase - Fashion Forward Collection from Graphic 45.

Maggi here to wish you a Happy New Year and to welcome you to the first Saturday Showcase of 2020! I'm featuring Graphic 45's Fashion Forward calendar collection today and what could be more appropriate for this time of year? I have lots of photos to share with you today so make yourselves comfortable and grab a snack!

The Fashion Forward collection includes 2 each of 12 different design papers, one for each month. The colors and imagery are stunning and just what I love! One side is all the monthly cut-aparts and the other side is a coordinating patterned paper.

In addition to being a great collection for calendar making, it's also perfect for cards and tags as each month provides seasonal colors, imagery, and sentiments to go along with whatever theme you have in mind.

I wanted to make a calendar, but I didn't want the hassle of having to create the monthly date calendar pages and trying to assemble all that, so I had what I think is a great idea! I used a free calendar that I received in the mail, I usually get 5 or 6 of those. It was the perfect size at 10 1/2" wide and 8 1/4" tall. Perfect size for covering their photo pages with beautiful Graphic 45 imagery!!

Here's January. As you can see the top portion of the calendar is done with design paper and the bottom portion is the printed calendar I received in the mail.

I used papers from the 12 x 12 Patterns and Solids pad to first cover up the original printed calendar photo that accompanies each month. Then I cut apart the January design paper and made my design. I did a little fussy cutting and used a Tim Holtz Crochet Thinlit die cut to add a pretty scalloped design. Each month includes several border strips and I used those to decorate the bottom calendar portion just to tie the two pages together. The Post Card is the back side of an ephemera card from the Ephemera Pack.

This is such a fun way to personalize a calendar without making a monumental task out of it. You can use stickers to mark special days like Valentine's Day. The pink and green printed paper is the back of the February cut-aparts.

The calendar portion of each set of pages is the same so I have cut those off the photos so that you can better see all the details in the design. This is my favorite page, I just love this blue and green color combo!

The design papers for each month all have the same elements, just different designs so that made it easy. I even scraplifted myself by repeating the design on some months, I just flipped the designs from left to right. On the left is another ephemera card showing the back side with small cut-aparts adhered to it.

This design is the same as June, just flipped left to right.  

 This is the March layout, just flipped.

In addition to using the Solids and Patterns Pad, I also used the 2nd page of the monthly design papers so that I'd have some coordinating patterned paper. Graphic 45 recently added a die cut assortment to their line up, At the top left I've used an oval frame from the assortment. There are lots of designs from a gorgeous clock face to flourishes. I was really happy to see this addition.

I don't know about you, but I MUST have a wall calendar by my desk, I just couldn't function without it! I love that I have a one-of-a-kind calendar that adds some great color to my white walls.

Saturday Showcase - Holiday Tags

Welcome to the last Saturday Showcase of 2019 here at The Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog. To round off the year the Design Team have all created tags with a holiday theme and each one has it's own tutorial. So this time you get six for the price of one! Maggi Harding - Scrap, Travel & Bark

Graphic 45's 12 Days of Christmas is one of my favorite Christmas collections and you can still find this Deluxe Collector's Edition in The Funkie Junkie Boutique.   My tags usually feature lots of dimension and layers that I create by using dimensional foam tape between my paper layers. I also like to add diecut layers like the rectangular frame behind the Joeux Noel cut-apart. Join me on my blog for a tutorial on how to make this card. I am really miserly with my paper and I'll show you some ways to use your scraps and save paper!

Cec Wintonyk - CW Creations

I am calling my tag Snowflake Tag as it features a number of the Tim Holtz snowflake dies.  The little snowflakes have been cut from plain card stock and covered in clear glitter while the large snowflake has been cut from Tim's metallic kraft stock.  The background is old music paper that was painted and then textured with texture paste and some silver embossing.  A little seam binding with distress inks and combined with some fun fibers tops the tag off.

Sara Emily - sarascloset

My tag features several products from Linda's shop perfect for Christmas crafting, and I can use them for projects throughout the winter season. I covered a Collage Frame with one of Tim Holtz fabulous retro designs from the Christmas Worn Wallpaper pack and adhered this to a small Etcetera Tag to frame a Tim Holtz Holiday Greetings sentiment.  I used Tim's Radiant 3D Impresslit and Fanciful Snowflakes Thinlits to embellish my snowy scene.  If you would like more details and to see how this goes from being Christmas home decor to a functional gift card holder, please drop by my blog.

Ginny Nemchak - Polly's Paper Studio

I created this quirky and whimsical Christmas tag with layers of the patterned papers from the Stamperia Blue Stars collection.  The image is fussy cut and added with spacers for loads of dimension.  The Antique Gold Mesh ribbon is wrapped around the bottom of the tag for texture. Pretty coordinating Prima flowers create a lovely arrangement when filled in with Die Cut Skeleton Leaves and loopy twine bows. Suzanne Czosek - Suzz's Stamping Spot

I was inspired by a cooking challenge where they were asked to create an all white design on their Christmas Baked goods. I love how soft it can look when you mix layers and textures of white. The background is stamped with Versamark and embossed to add a soft layer on the tag. The next layer is a mix of die cut flowers, sentiment, berries and branches. They are accented with a few metallic droplets painted white with a layer of frost. For a few more close ups and details pop on over to Suzz's Stamping Spot. 

Jenny Marples - Pushing The Right Buttons

I've created a set of gift tags by using a patchwork of papers for the background, painting, stencilling and stitching over them before adding stamping and embossing. With stamped seam binding ribbons and brass Christmas themed charms these are now ready to adorn parcels under the tree this year. Find out more about how these came together over on my blog.
