Inky Halloween Inspiration

Today, Lisa is sharing her project for our Distress Spray, Ink and Medium inspirations.  She got out a huge pile of Distress sprays, ink pads and Halloween Mica Stains old and new to create backgrounds and inky parts for some of pages of her in progress Halloween Journal project.

Lisa's blog Creative Juice has a huge amount of inspiration using all the distress goodies.  Be sure to jump over there and check out her post using the samples above.

Distress Oxide Inspiration

Today we are kicking off our new inspirational product spotlights.  Design team member Janna has challenged us to get out our Distress Inks, Sprays, and Mediums and create a vintage or shabby chic project featuring Distress products. She says let’s have some creative fun and get our fingers inky this month, happy crafting!

Our first Design Team member to jump into the challenge is Lyla Larimore - A Chief's Wife's Heart's A' Fire.

Lyla used her favorite go-to Distress Oxide colors, Ground Espresso and Vintage Photo plus a few Distress Crayon shades as well to help ink up this Halloween Book of Optical Eye Openers.

We hope you will grab some great inspiration from our new blog approach.  Be sure to stop by Lyla's blog A Chief's Wife's Heart's A'Fire to learn more about how she created her Halloween book.

We also hope you will enter into our drawing for a $25 gift certificate to The Funkie Junkie Boutique by creating something with Tim Holtz Distress inks, sprays or mediums.  Post on your social media and tag us at #thefunkiejunkie.  At the end of our two week challenge, we will randomly select a $25 gift certificate winner.

Be sure to stop back here at TFJB Inspiration Avenue for our next designer sample featuring Distress paints, sprays or inks.

A New Direction for The Funkie Junkie Challenge Blog

Our challenge blog has had a great run over the past ten years, first as Frilly and  Funkie celebrating all sorts of vintage-inspired paper crafts and more recently as The Funkie Junkie Challenge Blog.  We have noticed a decline in participation in our challenges over the past year and feel it's time to move past challenges into purely inspiration style posts.  We are thankful for all the visitors, challenge players and artists who have contributed to the success and longevity of our blog. It's amazing that we have passed our 10th anniversary of the blog's beginning.

Our new approach is to provide inspiration for using products sold in our on-line store The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  Tomorrow is the beginning of a new product spotlight cycle.  Our talented team of designers will be given a product or group of products to provide inspiration for using the products.  The designers will each post on separate days throughout the two week cycle.  The posting days will be Wednesday, Friday and Monday.  We will no longer have scheduled guest designers but may occasionally have guests pop in with inspiration.

We will be offering a $25 gift certificate to shop at The Funkie Junkie Boutique each product spotlight cycle.  To enter, you must create a project using the spotlighted products, post it on your social media and tag #thefunkiejunkie. At the close of each spotlight cycle, we will randomly select a winner from the individuals who tag us.

We hope all our loyal readers will enjoy our new approach.  We would love to hear your comments!
