Friday focus - idea-ology

well it is Trace here and it is my turn for the Friday Focus and this week I have the fab Tim Holtz idea-ology range. Wow lucky me alongside distress and stamps idea-ology has to be one of my most loved and used things...I love the variety, style, quality and versatility of this range and it is ever growing ..as is my collection.
So to show off this amazing range I have made a small piece and then included snapshots of lots of other pieces to hopefully show the amazing versatility of this range.

So the first piece:

For this steampunk themed tag I have used cogs and also now mini gears which are great...

Then steampunk gents are dangling on chain (from idea-ology range.) so they swing a bit like pendulums. I then added some spinners all using long fasteners.. these are great as they come in the three colours of the embellishments. I love that these embellishments can be used for grunge and steampunk but also delicate vintage feel pieces.

So some more inspiration.. I hope :

This piece ( a configurations box..part of the idea-ology range) is full of idea-ology.. from the little bottles..more about those in a minute, to the fractured doll, pen nibs and the charm on the key..these come in sets of 12 with 3 colours and a range of sentiments and also look great hanging off the top of tags . Also the curio know attached to the top. The word stickers are called chit chat stickers and are fab for these projects, they come in white and kraft all in same set.

And onto the bottles which can be left plain or filled with all sorts of goodies. A top tip from Wendy Vecchi is to cover the bottles with a coat of glue and seal and then when dry clear rock candy. This will create a fab crackle...In this case I have dabbed some vintage photo distress stain into the cracks. This looks great on the light bulbs too!

and here is an altered mini book full of idea-ology:

Here there is more bottles this time wrapped with torn paper strips, light bulbs, a watch face , cogs and some chit chat stickers...a book full of wonder words and also now a seasonal pack...full of words on white and kraft.

here is another steampunk filled piece using lots more idea-ology although they do not have to be used on large pieces and are easily suited to small Atc's and cards and tags as well.

This time the little bottles have bee filled with old watch parts, and the philosophy tag hung on an idea-ology hanging, the pointing finger has part of a hitch fastener added and the other part is hanging from the bottle shelf.

Finally a few more pictures:
cogs, spinners, philosophy tags and long and mini fasteners on this ATC.
Trinket pins, jump rings, baubles and philosophy tags
word bands, this has paint rubbed in but they are silver and held in place with long fasteners.

here the watch faces have a cog, then a game spinner then a washer all secured with long fastener..the butterfly is stash and actually spins round the watch face.
here the little bottles have been used for the butterflies body and the key is an idea-ology key with words on.

I have listed all the wonderful idea-ology I have used below all available at fab prices in the funkie junkie boutique from the lovely Linda.. and also as it is the Friday Focus, all Idea-ology products will have another 15% off the already fab prices..so why not pop along and have a look ...be sure to shop early as quantities are limited.

have a fun and inky day!
