Our Guest Designer - Amanda Pink

It is time to introduce our Guest Designer for the current challenge and we are fortunate to welcome back a familiar face.  Say hello to Amanda Pink of Ink-A-Pink.

"It is a real honour to have been invited to feature as a Guest designer here today. Thank you so much to ALL the Frilly and Funkie team for giving me this wonderful opportunity to share some of my creativity with you all.

I'm a Yorkshire girl ‘born n bred’ living in Sheffield, England. From a very young age I have always had a keen interest in anything Arty or Creative. I’ve knitted, sewed, made cards, hand painted T-shirts, painted in watercolours and pencil sketched over the years - I just loved to keep my fingers busy and though I occasionally still let my pencil take a walk along the page or let the paint flow freely from the brush I now spend most of my time crafting making either cards, journal pages or mixed media projects. I began devoting a lot more of my time to crafting in 2011 when I came across ‘The creative world of Tim Holtz ‘ and started blogging in February 2015 so despite having an arty background I feel my creative journey is only just beginning as I have so much more to learn and discover.

My creativity is something I can embrace; it gives me purpose and meaning, a way of speaking without a voice, and a place I can go to to‘release’! To quote Picasso - 'Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life' - and for me this is never truer!"

"Given that my creative style tends more to the ‘Funkie’, the current challenge theme ‘Opposites Attract’ hosted by Kathy, required me to find and embrace my ‘Inner Frilly’ to create my project of choice. Eek!!

I could wax lyrical and really make you smile, howl with laughter in fact, at the chaos and drama that ensued but I won’t, let’s just say this definitely proved to be quite a challenge! I have made a card using papers, inks, die cuts, crafted flowers, ribbons, gem beads and a meaningful quote., As the challenge description suggests I have chosen to use a colour outside my preferred palette ,Peach, combining it with cream and delicate accents of brown.

Lots of fiddling and ‘faffing’ eventually brought all the elements together to create the finish card I share with you today . How frilly it is- I’ll let you decide but it is definitely ‘prettier’ and I think closer to ‘frilly’ than I would usually create.

I hope you like my card and if you wish to see more you are very welcome to pop by my blog."

  4. Oh, you let your Frilly gal come out and play and what a beauty she created! I super love this. The composition is gorgeous, and the color palette is so peaceful and inviting. Thank you so much for embracing this challenge so whole-heartedly. (I can relate, by the way...going Funkie was an equal challenge for me, and I nearly filled a bin with failed attempts!) 1. Thanks! Kathy and so good to read that that you can relate. It was a challenge admittedly mainly because I wasn't sure just how frilly my make had to be and I think I got tied up in all that at first but its good to be challenged - its the only way of growing creatively - so thank you ! Its gonna be a great theme for everyone to join in with .
      hugs xx

  8. Well, there may have been chaos and drama but it was well worth it! The result is just beautiful. Perfect floral cluster, and I love how you've placed the wildflower die-cuts too. I love the soft peachy colour tones - so pretty - a joy of a card!

  9. Amanda, I'm not sure if I loved reading your post or seeing your frilly side, for once, more! You had me giggling, and I can totally picture that scenario, because I'm there every time I try to be frilly! Some of us are just meant to be funkie! But you totally got it, and I couldn't believe there wasn't some editing error hear when I opened the post and saw this girlie creation with your name at the top! Truly lovely, and so perfectly designed! I have to really laugh now, because that sentiment is printed on the tee shirt I'm wearing today! How about that?! Hugs!
