Saturday StepXStep

Terry here and I do apologize for being so late!  This is a tag I created and had many people ask about the butterflies.  I did a technique very close to Tim's "Shattered Stains," but used Color Washes.  I really did love the effect and hope you will also!  For more details on this tag, please click here!
For my "Crackled" buttterflies, I folded a piece of grunge paper in half and cut.  Then I painted on the Rock Candy Crackle, let it dry.
Once dry I used Tim's water brush to paint on the color in layers until the color I wanted was achieved.
I did give this a light heat tool drying in between color applications.
Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!  This week in The Funkie Junkie Boutique, a complete set of Dylusions Sprays are on sale for $38.25.

  1. Great tutorial Terry ! Love how you folded the Grunge paper for the butterflies and the colour wash works really well. Sue C x

  2. Just love the subtlety of the colours and the layering, Terry. Simply beautiful.

  3. Terry, this tag is ultra gorgeous!!! Love your shattered colorwash beautiful and vintage looking!!!

  4. This was one of my favourite CC2 projects from that week. Just love the way the butterflies seem to merge with the background (also done to perfection). Thanks for sharing, hugs Buttons x

  5. I am just drooling over this, Terry! The shattered butterflies are awesome and I appreciate you sharing how you made them, but what I keep coming back to and staring at is the beautiful background you created with the tissue wrap. The colors are just wonderful and I love the stamping over the tissue wrap. Thanks for giving us this gorgeous bit of eye candy to enjoy!

  6. I love this technique, I never tried it using a waterbrush. What a great idea! Thanks for sharing!

  7. The look on your butterflies is tremendous. I learned so much from your tutorial...thank you!!
Now I'm even more confused. Dylusional sprays or color wash sprays....maybe I should just get both and cancel out any regret or doubt..LOL!

    1. Now that is exactly how I think! When in doubt - buy both! Ha! Thank you so much, Lisa!
