Friday Focus - Art Parts

Well it is Trace here, and it is time for my turn with the Friday Focus. This time I have been playing with Art Parts which can be found at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. These fab pieces come in such a  huge variety of shapes and are a very versatile addition to any ones crafty stash whether you are a collector of Wendy Vecchi stamps or not.  So firstly what are they? Well they are shapes made out of compressed paper and are very sturdy (although they can be cut with a really good pair of scissors). To show how versatile they are I got busy playing and made lots of different pieces to show how cool they are!

So here goes with lots of pictures and hopefully some useful ideas. I have tried to keep the details fairly basic as I have made a few pieces..

Piece #1

This is a small hanging piece made from only one rectangular Art Part. I covered it in paper from a Tim Holtz stack and then trimmed round using a craft knife. I then sanded the edges to get a smooth finish.

The flowers and the vase were covered with some of the new yummy Distress paint in Pumice Stone, adding some soft stamping on the flowers and a pumice stone flourish using one of Wendy's fab new stencils! I chose to add a Blossom Bucket piece for the centre, but any embellishments you choose would be perfect.

Piece #2

For my second piece I used some fab instant frames; it's a new design and these create simple pieces so quickly. For the outside of the frame I applied Distress inks direct to the Art Part and heated it. Then I added some stencilled Distress ink and some of the yummy new translucent paste.

For the inside I first covered the Art part piece with some cream card stock as I wanted the paler Distress ink and stencilled and stamped details to show up. The quote is from a Wendy Vecchi set Wildflower Art. The flowers and leaf are also art part pieces inked and stamped .

For pieces 3 and 4 I wanted to show how you can use the Art Part pieces on their own and with their
coordinating stamp sets. So for piece 3 I have used the Wildflower Art parts and Wildflower Art stamp set to create a simple little book cover.

Piece #3

I inked the Art Part flower piece and then stamped the detail over the top using archival ink - cool eh? I added this to some art part pieces with wholes punched in using a Crop-a-Dile and tied with seam binding.

To show how the stamps look great on their own I made and stamped a matching gift bag x

Piece #4

For this piece I used the same Art Part piece with Rock Candy and Distress paint. I also used some patterned paper, more Studio 490 texture paste (white this time) and Wendy Vecchi stencils for a simple but (hope you agree) pretty make.

Well, it would be rude not to embrace my steampunk side and show off the fab Art Part pieces that make these spool pieces so here goes...

Piece #5

I also added cogs Art Parts and the banner and key parts Art Part pieces too, oh, and lots of Idea-ology!

Now for a few other ideas that you may have seen before...

All the shelves are made from scallop art part pieces.

My step x step from a few weeks ago has lots of art parts.

And finally a spool I made a while ago using Art Parts in a different way to the spool piece above...

Well, hope you like my Friday Focus. Now you will need to stock up on Art Parts and you are in luck! As these are in the spotlight they will be discounted by 15% at The Funkie Junkie Boutique through to Thursday, October 31st. So hop on over to the store HERE and grab a few bargains and you too can be creating gifts for friends and family for the coming holiday season.

Have a fun and inky day,
Trace  x
