This week at TFJB Inspiration Ave blog we are creating to the theme of 'Aren’t We Lucky.' With this theme I was inspired to create a St. Patrick’s Day card using a variety of green colors.
In today’s tutorial, I will be covering a technique using Alcohol Ink and Lift Ink. For video tutorial, click

The supplies used: Alcohol Inks Turquoise, Stone Washed, Patina, Mermaid, Everglade, Impresslit Lucky in Love, Distress Archival Inks Crushed Olive and Rustic Wilderness, Yupo Paper, Specialty Stamping Paper and Distress Mixed Media Paper, Stamp Set Floral Elements CMS445, Alcohol Lift Ink Reinker, Ranger Tim Holtz brayer.
To start this technique I’m going to be using a variety of Alcohol Inks, including Turquoise, Stonewashed, Patina, Mermaid, and Everglade.
I then sprinkled the alcohol inks on the Yupo paper before moving it around with the Tim Holtz Ranger Alcohol Ink Blower tool.

Now to jump into the technique with Alcohol Lift Ink. It is important to note here that we are not using the Alcohol Ink Lifting Pad. We are instead using the Alcohol Lift Ink reinker. I also pulled in the Ranger Tim Holtz Large Black Brayer.
The next two steps are time sensitive,and must be done fairly consecutively. First run a line of the Alcohol Lifting Reinker across the top of the Yupo paper. Then quickly brayer the ink down the Yupo in an even fashion. It is very important that the ink is evenly distributed, because if it pulls too much in one place then the alcohol ink will run and smear.
Next I quickly pressed a piece of Distress Specialty Stamping Paper over the top of the Yupo paper. I didn’t move the paper down with my hand applying firm pressure. This is going to allow us to pull a print from the Yupo paper.
Here is the lifted print on the Specialty Stamping Paper. After I made the first lift, I noticed that there was still quite a bit of Lift Ink on the Yupo paper. I then went in with a piece of Distress Mixed Media Paper and pulled a second generation lift.
Below is the lifted print on the Distress Mixed Media paper.
For embellishments I’m using the Lucky in Love Impreslit folder and die cut a shamrock. I die cut the shamrock from some of the Sparkling Alcohol Ink paper and coloured a shamrock with a dash of Dandelion and Mojito alcohol inks.
Since we were able to pull a print on the Specialty Stamping Paper, we are then able to go in with some distress archival links to create a foliage style background. I stamped with Crushed Olive and Rustic Wilderness archival inks. Because we’re stamping on the Specialty Stamping Paper the stamp images are very clear and sharp. While it is possible to stamp on Yupo paper, I have found that archival ink will smudge if it’s touched too quickly and needs a certain amount of drying time for it to set. The set we are stamping with is Floral Elements CMS445.
Next, I added a frame of Design Tape from the Idea-ology line.
For the centre piece of this card, I pulled in some transparent letters from Idea-ology and attached them with a stapler.
For the last element I attached the shamrock with some foam squares.
