Let's celebrate our great country with a fun patriotic tag! It's Teri with TerisMailbox posting today for The Funkie Junkie Boutique!
I have a video posted in case you'd rather watch that. Link: https://youtu.be/zABL0qEHwik
Create the Base
I designed the background to look like an old cozy quilt! A small Etcetera tag is perfect as a base for this patriotic project! Cut red and blue papers from the Ideology Backdrops #5 into 1.5 inch squares. Trim a piece of paper to the size of the Etcetera Tag. Run strips of adhesive on the paper and arrange the Backdrop Squares in random order to cover the paper. Note use as little adhesive as possible as we are going to sew the edges on a sewing machine to create the quilted background.
Use Collage Medium to attach the quilt to the Etcetera tag. Picket Fence Distress Paint is the perfect medium to age the quilt. After drying, apply the paint and use water to thin out and spread around.
Once dry, use THS 093 with Snowfall Git Paste to simulate fireworks at the top of the tag. Sprinkle with Rock Candy Glitter and the Glitter Duster.
Create the Embellishments
Die cut one of the Gentlemen from Navy Cardstock three times and stack together. Use Stencil number 093 with Translucent Texture Paste to add interest to the Gentleman.
Use black cardstock to cut the Old Jalopy and grey cardstock for the wheels and embellishments. Use Lost Shadow Oxide Ink on the edges. Glue the components together.
Stamp the flags from the Crazy Things Stamp set with Black Pigment ink and add Clear Embossing Powder. Heat set. Color the stars and stripes using Distress Watercolor Pencils. Fussy cut the number of flags you plan to use on the tag.
Assemble the Tag
Use a hot glue gun to attach the Gentleman and the Jalopy to the center of the tag. The fireworks had too much depth and texture for Collage Medium. Add the flags to the Jalopy bumper and in the Gentleman's hands.
Use a few sentiments from Small Talk Occasions. Glue the strips on two additional strips for depth. After gluing on the tag, use Glossy Accents or another glossy medium to add shine.
Glue three metal stars on the tag to complete the project!
