First, open the embossing folder and determine what portion of the design that you would like to emboss onto your blank charm. Place your charm over that section. With the heart charm, you'll need to be mindful of which direction you would like to have your charm hang on your necklace. This will determine which side of the charm you should have facing up.
Next, carefully close the folder and make a sandwich with your cutting plates. Place the cutting plates on tab 1 of the Sizzix platform and place the platform in your Sizzix BigShot machine. If you're using the Sizzix Vagabond you'll need to use the platform and solo shim for this step. Run the platform through the machine.
When you remove the blank from the embossing folder you should have something like this! Repeat this step for all of the blanks that you want to add to your necklace.
At this point, you can add Vintaj patinas to your pieces if you want to add some color. Once the patinas have dried, use the Vintaj reliefing block to sand each charm. The step removes the extra patina and reveals the embossed design. I didn't want to add color to my necklace so I skipped adding the patinas and sanded my embossed charms.
I now have the pieces ready to assemble my necklace. You'll need a chain, jump rings, and a clasp. I also have crystals from my own stash that I will be adding between each charm.
Position the chain on your craft mat making sure that it's laying flat. Find the center and add the charm that you want to be the focal point of your necklace. Using the remaining charms determine the desired distance between each charm and begin adding the charms to the chain with the jump rings.
Once you've added all of your charms you need to add a clasp to the ends of the chain.
And there you have it! A beautiful Vintaj heart necklace! I love the vintage brass finish and the art deco rose pattern from the Nouveau Roses deco-embossing folder!
