Friday Focus - Filigree Metal

Hello and welcome to today's Friday Focus ! It's Sue here and today the focus is on Filigree Metal. Linda has so many wonderful pieces in The Funkie Junkie Boutique, they are such a fabulous embellishment for all craft projects from cards through to mixed media.

I thought I would take the opportunity to share a card that I've made for my God Daughter which I've used Filigree metal on.

I always like to make all the elements I need before putting a project together. I've used a Crafty Individual stamp and started by stamping onto some white card and cutting out the different parts. I then painted the images using Distress Markers.

I then used Distress Stains on white card and spritzed it with water so all of the colours ran into each other.

 

When it was dry I used the Honeycomb Texture Fade and then cut it out using the Tim Holtz Cameo Frame. I've blended some Ripe Persimmon Distress Ink around the edge. 

I decided that I wanted the Filigree Metal to blend in with the rest of the colours so I've used acrylic paint with some Cut 'n' Dry foam and dabbed it over the metal.

I did the same again with a smaller piece of Filigree Metal as my intention is to layer one piece on top of the other.

For this layer I've used watercolour paper and stencilled the flowers around the edge using some more acrylic paint.

To finish off the card I've dyed some seam binding using Distress Stains amd layered everything up.

I think the Filigree Metal looks great layered, the top layer looks almost rusted (I must remember this!).

 

Here's another  project where I've hidden part of the Filigree metal to create a border. 

On this project I've used the Filigree Metal as a layer behind the clock face, you can also use it as a layer below buttons which looks great too.
