Well here is the first Friday focus for the new year and wow have a I got a good one...as it is Tim Holtz stamps, my absolute love...so how to show off all these gorgeous and versatile stamps..? It set me thinking about all the different sets/ styles of stamps there are ...so I decided to split this focus into the following, try not to get too over excited and carried away and try to make sure you are still awake at the end...and, don't forget that as the Friday Focus products, these fabulous stamps are on sale at an additional 15% off through next Thursday. Supplies are limited so grab yours while they are still in stock.
For me my Tim Holtz stamps fall into the following...( oh believe me there is so much more I could have shown!)
1. Collections...sets that co ordinate fully in theme.
2. Background, detail stamps...such as flourishes or stamps to add detail and layers to pieces.
3. Quote stamps ...some are full sheets and some are as part of collections of large or smaller stamp sets.
4. Blueprint stamps ..be they the large or mini sets another really cool set of stamps
5.Focal image stamps.. some are as part of sets/ collections and some sets are part of the fab new sets by Brett Weldele.
6. Stampers Anonymous favourites...chosen by Tim Holtz
So here goes :
1. Collections..I wanted to show how a set such as the Haberdashery set has everything to make complete and layered pieces without the need for any other stamps if desired! and by altering the inky process ho different looks can be achieved...
Both of these were created totally from that set..and just stamped with different Distress goodies to create a different feel...I will show you it all embellished in moment...but these were created using limited supplies..
For the base of the tag I used Distress paints and then did all my stamping in frayed burlap ink...using different elements from the set...
Just by stamping with first and second generation stamping ( where the stamp is inked...stamped on scrap piece and then onto tag...to create paler version..) You can create an interesting and layered background, a scuffed edge using edge distresser and then the focal dress form stamped in coffee archival creates a great and simple tag...all from one set and limited supplies...
I did embellish...tried so hard not too...but couldn't help it!
I also created another tag with the same set..stamping this time in Distress paint to create a different background...
The same set, different look all the pale stamping was stamped with antique linen distress paint...then some elements over stamped in walnut stain and this time same focal image but stamped in jet black Archival..
2. Background sets ..well these set create the perfect details , additions and layers for backgrounds ...
3. Quotes .. I added one to this background to create a text focal point
So I started by creating a background using ultimate grunge and flourish sets...stamping in various inks and paints..all that yummy Distress goodness.
here elements were stamped in Distress Ink onto a distress inked background, and using Distress Paint and picket fence Distress stain and then I also added some flourishes...stamped in clear embossing ink, covered with sticky embossing powder and rock candy distress glitter ...but these stamps are so versatile to create gorgeous layered backgrounds for any style...
I then added a quote stamp...this is one of my favourites but there are some gorgeous ones out there believe me ...some are on collection sheets..and some are full sheets of gorgeous words!
4. Blueprint stamps... these have a whole other style to them and are designed by Mario's son....they come in sets with four large stamps or mini blueprints with 3 sets of four smaller stamps...and they are fab!
So here are a couple of tags just to show you that I made last year...
These just go to show how they can be stamped with limited embellishments as with my chalkboard version of one of Tim's tags 2013 here...
or embellished fully like my make below..made last year
Well hope you are still there?!
5. Focal Images...for this I chose the fab time travellers sets..but there are images to suit all tastes...
here I used a number of sets...all listed at end...but the wonderful, rather stern gent is from the fab Brett Weldele's design for Tim Holtz and makes for me the perfect focal point...this was coloured with waterbrush and distress markers...on a painty background...just love distress paints for this!
This shows how well elements from other sets can be combined together as this tag includes elements from more than one set.
6. Stampers Anonymous favourites
These are stamps chosen by Tim from Stampers anonymous catalogue and there are some gorgeous designs...here are a couple of pictures of makes from last year ..
