A Mother's Love

Welcome to a new challenge at The Funkie Junkie Boutique blog! It's Sara Emily here, and I've named my challenge "A Mother's Love". Here's the brief:

"A mother's love can mean so many different things to different people. With this challenge I invite you to take some time to reflect on what it means for you and create a vintage or shabby chic project for your mother or a special woman in your life to let them know how much you love them. Be sure your project has the word "love" somewhere on it where it will be noticed."

The winner will earn a chance to be a Guest Designer at a future date here at The Funkie Junkie Boutique blog, and everyone who enters and follows the rules will go into the draw for the chance to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. There are also Top 3 Badges for three additional outstanding entries, chosen by the Design Team.

The guidelines for entering are simple; create a new vintage or shabby chic project following the challenge theme, link it below to your post (not just your blog) and also include a link back to this challenge in your post. You can combine our challenge with up to 10 challenges (including this one) to be in with a chance of winning. If you are entering through a public forum (such as Instagram) you'll need to include the words 'Funkie Junkie Boutique Challenge'. Also, please be sure to turn off your Word Verification so our Design Team can leave comments on your blogs. Make sure you follow these rules as unfortunately, we have had to eliminate entrants from the prize draws in the past.

The Design Team has created some wonderful projects to get you started. To see how they have paid tribute to the special ladies in their lives and to see all the details of their projects, just click on their blog name to be taken directly to their blog.

Hello, Friends! Kathy here as your hostess for another fun challenge. The theme for this go round is "Re-Purpose, Re-Use, Recycle". Earth Day is April 22nd, so let's honor the day with a vintage or shabby chic project that includes an item that would normally land in the recycle or trash bin. March Madness

Hi! Suzz here to share the new Frilly and Funkie challenge with you! Don't be afraid because the challenge is called "March Madness", the challenge isn't going to require you to use basketball inspired images.

Instead I want you to be inspired by Alice in Wonderland. I started from this quote of a conversation between the Mad Hatter and Alice: The Mad Hatter asks Alice: "Have I gone Mad?" and Alice replies "I am afraid so. You're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret.  All the best people are."

The challenge is to take any idea or concept from this wonderful tale to inspire your project. There are so many wonderful bits or pieces to be inspired by like the Queen of Hearts, the Mad Hatter, the looking glass, tea party or Alice herself. The possibilities are endless. Anything can be your inspiration but make sure you reference what inspired your art from the story!

The winner will earn the chance of a Guest Designer spot here at Frilly and Funkie, and everyone who enters and follows the rules will go into the draw for the chance to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. And there are Top 3 Badges for three further outstanding entries, chosen by the Design Team, because choosing just one winner is so hard!

The guidelines for entering are simple; create a new vintage or shabby chic project following the challenge theme, link it below to your post (not just your blog) and also include a link back to this challenge in your post. You can combine our challenge with up to 10 challenges (including this one) to be in with a chance of winning. Pass the Tissues, Please!

Hello and welcome! We really enjoyed seeing all those fabulous Artist Trading Coins in our last challenge! It's Sara Emily here to host our latest challenge at Frilly and Funkie, and I'm calling it 'Pass, the Tissues, Please!'.

Since we are still in 'cold season', I always make sure I'm stocked up on tissues in my home, in my purse and in the car. For this theme, I would like to see how you incorporate tissue paper into your vintage or shabby chic project. You can use regular tissues, tissue wrapping paper, sewing patterns or even collage paper, rice papers or tissue wrap designed especially for crafting.

Let Me Count the Ways

Hello and welcome! It's Sara Emily here to host our newest challenge at Frilly and Funkie.

Since it's just a day away from Valentine's Day, the opening line of Elizabeth Barrett Browning's famous love poem "Let Me Count the Ways" (Sonnet 43) comes to mind. "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways." For this challenge, I would like to see your vintage or shabby chic project that includes three of something. This could be three colors, three words, three stamps (you get the idea); just be sure to tell us what those three elements are.

Winter Blues Challenge

Hello, Friends! It's Kathy here and I'm very pleased to welcome you to our latest challenge! January is the longest winter month and lots of us get the "winter blues." Let's take the winter blues in a positive direction by creating a mostly monochromatic vintage or shabby chic project done up in shades of blue. You may use a bit of white, beige or grey for contrast, but I would like to see the blues to be front and center in this project.

The winner will earn the chance of a guest spot here at Frilly and Funkie, and everyone who enters and follows the rules will go into the draw for the chance to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. In addition, the Design Team will select three further outstanding entries and those creators will receive a Top Pick badge to display on their blogs!

Tis the Season for Gift Giving!

Hi, Maggi here, and I've got a fun challenge for you. I know at this time of the year, we are all VERY busy cooking and shopping. There's never a spare moment and we often neglect our crafting passion. However, if you are like me, crafting is so gratifying, and is a much needed activity that feeds and renews our soul.

Because it's that time of the year when we're all thinking about the perfect gift for our friends and families, let's combine our crafting passion with our "to do" list by creating a vintage or shabby chic gift for a special someone in your life. Your gift could be as simple as a handmade card or tag, or an elaborate piece of home decor. Maybe you like to place your gifts in handmade boxes? Your imagination is the only limit on this challenge!

The winner will earn the chance of a Guest Designer spot here at Frilly and Funkie, and everyone who enters and follows the rules will go into the draw for the chance to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique.
