Hello and welcome, Zoe here hosting this weeks Saturday Showcase. This week I am showcasing the Tim Holtz Tonic Stamp Platform. If you're a stamper, it's a total game changer AND the best news is it is now being released in a travel version too! Happy days!
One of the things I love best about the stamp platform is the ability to stamp on textured surfaces. The distress watercolor cardstock that I use a lot is heavily textured on one side and smooth on the other. I used to just stamp on the smooth side because I could never get a clear stamped image on the textured side.. not any more! Behold the power of the stamp platform! lol
Spray 2 shots of frayed burlap distress spray stain onto a non stick craft mat.
Lightly mist distress watercolor cardstock with water and swipe through the distress ink. Dry with a heat tool.
Swipe seedless preserves distress oxide onto a non stick craft sheet and spray with water until you get those lovely ink droplets.
Lightly tap parts of the cardstock into the oxide and spritz with water if desired and dry with a heat tool. When working with distress oxides, it's best to work in layers, drying between each one.
Using the Tim Holtz Stamp Platform, place the background onto the base and secure with the magnets provided. TIP: These magnets are very strong and should be kept apart as they can snap together and break or pinch your fingers.
Place the stamp over the background, and once you're happy with the placement, lower the hinged lid onto the stamp. You can use the gridlines to ensure any text is straight. Ink up your stamp and lower the lid onto the background, repeating until you have a clear stamped image!
See how clear the image is, even when stamped over the textured side of watercolor cardstock?! This gorgeous stamp is from the Tim Holtz Inventor 3 stamp set (CMS342) which is available on pre-order, shipping March.
There are 2 sides to the stamp platform, rubber and cling, so you can use both types of stamps. I wanted to try the idea-ology foam stamps and used the rubber side (same as above) in the stamp platform.
Stamping with black soot distress archival ink, I got a perfect stamped image, even over stitching and mounted cardstock! Using the grid lines I was able to get perfectly aligned numbers... I haven't quite learned to "embrace imperfection" yet! ;)
