Friday Focus - Embossing Folders

Hi, it's Sue here and the Friday Focus is back off hiatus and today I'm playing with embossing folders ! I love incorporating different textures in my projects and embossing folders are the perfect way to do this.

A great way to add colour to your embossing is to use ink inside the folder. I've used the gorgeous Ripe Persimmon Distress Ink, and just by swiping the ink over the surface of the folder creates a great effect.

Another cool way to add colour is to use the ink pad direct to the card stock, holding it flat and rubbing over the surface it picks up on just the raised embossing and highlights it.

To finish the piece off I've used a selection of complimentary colours to blend around the edges.

As well as rubbing ink on the inside you can also stamp on the inside with any design you choose. A word of caution is if you choose text when it's embossed it will read backwards, unless you use the fab Reflections stamps by Tim Holtz that are in reverse to begin with !

One of the techniques I love to use with embossing folders is using kitchen roll (towel) that has been spritzed with water. It embosses the paper really well and when dry you can use ink on it.

I've used the fab Honeycomb Texture Fade for this piece and as you can see the pattern is really cool !

By blending Bundled Sage Distress Ink over the top the pattern starts to come to life !

Here's a couple of cards I've made with the embossed pieces. As usual I've covered most of the embossing up but that's my style I guess ! These cards are for my sister who's moving house today !

You can  find the embossing folders here in The Funkie Junkie Boutique and with 15% off you may need to snap up one or two !
