I'm sure many of us use things lying around the house to add texture to our projects. Today I'm using ATCs as my bases and a combo of string, rubber band, mesh, and netting to create the texture. Eventually they will be finished, but for today I've just created some interest on plain manila (and one text page) ATC.
I did the first one by applying Distress Ink over Linda's millinery netting. The netting is very delicate and I used painter's tape to secure it to my craft sheet and keep it steady.
I can't get over how neat that pattern is! For the next one I used Ranger's Color Wash sprayed over two strips of wide mesh ribbon:
You get a different results based on how heavily you spray, how close you are to the paper, etc.
I used four rubber bands and Distress Ink on this one, applied with the blending tool:
I hope this inspires you to look around your space and consider some new (or remember some old!) ways to add texture. Thanks so much for visiting.

ReplyDeleteI love all the techniques but love the netting one best I think, it will be great to use with Tim's new salty ocean DI and my latest love, a seahorse stamp. Thanks so much Marjie! A x
ReplyDeleteIt is always fun to see the different things people use to create texture. Some of these I already do, but some were new to me! Thanks for the inspiration to look around at what I have and try new things.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant ideas Marjie. I love these inspirational tuts x
ReplyDeleteSuper ideas...my favorite is the first one, made with the millinery mesh. I've been saving the little mesh bags that fresh garlic comes in...I bet that would be cool, too. Thanks, Marjie...as always, you rock!

Hi Marjie...there are some great ideas here! I like the millinary mesh one too, but I recognised the wide mesh ribbon...I have that in my stash so I will be able to have a play.

ReplyDeleteWhat a super tutorial! I went right out and bought two bags of clementine oranges just for this. The produce guy said, "You must really like them." To which I responded, 'Ehhh, they're okay, but I MUST have the mesh packaging!" Thanks for kick starting the ol' brain. :)
ReplyDeleteSo cool!!! Thanks Marjie!
